Mike and I want to thank our clients for trusting us with their business in 2016.  It was a pleasure helping our clients reach their goals. We look forward to 2017!

2016 was a year with some ups and, while I wouldn’t call them downs, doubts did find their way into the San Francisco real estate market.  The beginning of 2016 started off with a bang with homes being sold quickly, in part due to the continuing low amount of inventory.  Summer brought the normal slow down but seemed to dovetail with dampening spirits and there were more properties sitting on the market far longer than expected.  We had a few clients take advantage of this by buying homes with little or no competition.  It seems unheard of, but one of our clients purchased a home almost 20% under the asking price!

I was asked by clients repeatedly what I expected to see happen with the local real estate market.  The answer I had was that doubts had certainly crept into the market but I didn’t see any real data to substantiate a slow down.  Inventory remained low and every open house I organized had good turn out.  In my opinion, after several years of intense appreciation, the proportion of people who believed the market couldn’t continue as it had reached a threshold where those voices became very loud.  The word “Bubble” found its way into most conversations about San Francisco real estate.
